Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart have released BODY SOUND, their debut album as a trio, now available on streaming platforms via International Anthem following an earlier physical release. Built from strings, voice, and analog tape manipulation, the album draws on improvised performances recorded across multiple locations and later reshaped into composed pieces through hands-on editing and looping.
Rooted in Chicago’s experimental music scene, BODY SOUND reflects the trio’s shared focus on listening and responsiveness, blending elements of folk, avant-garde, and ambient traditions into a work that balances structure with spontaneity. The release coincides with a run of tour dates across the U.S. and Europe.
