Some Fear Release the Gorgeous "Dia", New Album Out Next Week

Oklahoma City natives Some Fear have released “Dia,” the quietly, heartbreakingly sweet new single from their upcoming sophomore album Word Eater, due April 24, 2026 via Rite Field Records.

The track explores themes of identity and burnout, pairing hazy, slowcore textures with forceful percussion to underscore feelings of inadequacy tied to work and creative output.

Frontman Branden “Bran” Palesano said the song reflects on losing oneself in external pursuits and the need to find value beyond them. “Dia” follows the previously released single “I Don’t Want to Spend My Money,” which addresses financial strain, and continues the band’s shift toward a more polished, high-fidelity sound.

The album, comprising eight tracks, examines emotional isolation, economic pressure, and the role of community, marking a progression from the group’s lo-fi beginnings. Some Fear are scheduled to perform at Norman Music Festival on April 23 ahead of the album’s release.
