Pacific Northwest acts Sea Moss and Miscomings have announced a collaborative split LP titled Big Tube Scene, set for release on June 26 via Zum Audio. The project brings together two bands from Seattle and Portland’s experimental scenes, documenting a partnership that began with a shared live bill in 2023.
Positioned as a dual-artist release, Big Tube Scene features separate tracklists from each group alongside collaborative recordings. The first single, “Seacomings,” is out now and includes all six members performing together in a live studio setting. A second release wave is scheduled for May 20, featuring individual tracks “I’m Blue” from Miscomings and “First Greens” from Sea Moss.
The album’s origins trace back to a now-closed Portland venue that operated as a cafĂ© by day and an all-ages performance space by night. That initial show led to an ongoing creative relationship between the bands, culminating in this recorded collaboration. Each side of the LP concludes with a joint composition, “Seacomings” and “Mismoss”, captured during a session in Seattle.
Sea Moss’ contribution includes six tracks recorded in Portland, with instrumentation spanning vocals, electronics, and percussion. Miscomings’ side expands to seven tracks and incorporates additional guest features, including saxophone and trumpet on select recordings. The album was mastered by Kern Haug, with artwork by Halloweener and design by Squiglie Studio.
In support of the release, Sea Moss and Miscomings will embark on a West Coast tour beginning June 20 in Seattle. The run includes stops in California, Nevada, and Oregon, wrapping July 11 in Portland. Highlights include performances in Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco, along with a mix of venue and DIY spaces.
Big Tube Scene reflects a broader tradition of split releases within underground music, where artists share formats to cross-pollinate audiences and document collaborative energy. In this case, the record emphasizes both individual approaches and a shared affinity for dense, rhythm-forward noise compositions.
